Northstar

I had been hoping to return to Tahoe before the season ended since I had my Tahoe Pass and wanted to spend time on the mountain with friends. The time finally came when flights were affordable, access was easy into Reno and my friends had time off from work to ride and hang out.

It’s been a rough season for Tahoe, definitely not the normal Tahoe year for snowfall but it doesn’t mean the mountain is bad. It’s not, the groomers are fun, the parks are great and there’s a lot less people up on the mountains. It felt good to return to sunshine for a day of snowboarding and I

Snowboarding is so much better when you have someone to share it with. I spent today riding with my friend Ashley, we both worked at Mammoth together and had a blast venturing into park with Kumara later on in the day. Of course we also stretched after a couple laps to really warm up.

Compared to a month ago, the parks at Northstar have grown up quite a bit with features. The pipe is up and running, the park has the main line and now branches off into a mini line which we ended sessioning most of the day.

The snow was definitely a lot softer and almost slushy by the time we arrived to the mountain. Tomorrow will be a much earlier start than today. But it made for really fun conditions and lapping park was fine for all of us.

So far this season I haven’t experienced the s’mores at Northstar yet. Each afternoon right before the mountain closes, an employee comes out and serves up s’mores to guests. I love the idea behind it and how it can make any day better to receive a free tasty snack. Today we finally experienced it, making sure we were in the base when they would do it. It totally made the end of the day better!

After s’mores it was time to head to the Shreddy Times house to hang out with the boys. The last month I’ve been so busy that I hadn’t watched the “Moving Forward” movie yet so Conor made sure we finally watched the finished product.
