With no new snow in California and the roads clear to explore, it meant heading up to Northstar for a couple days to get in riding time. I was really stoked because it meant being able to hang out with the Shreddy Times crew when we got off the mountain.
I made the drive from Mammoth to Northstar in the morning just in time to meet my friend Ashley on the slopes for a day of shred. Conditions since the last time I visited are more hardpacked and some icy spots but coverage is good and you have a ton of riding terrain open (including long runs) and the parks are on dial for the Revolution Tour.
We explored the mountain in the morning and rode as many lifts as we could find. After a couple long runs on the backside, we headed to Zephyr Lodge to check it out and then back to the parks to work on our skills (more like non-skills).
In the park at the end of the day we finally met up with Jenise and got in a couple laps with her. She’s going to be competing in the Revolution Tour so it was fun to watch her practice.
After the lifts closed at 4pm, we headed down to the base to grab a cup of coffee and chill in the comfortable base area couches. It was a good view just hanging out.
After ending the day, we headed down to the ShreddyTimes house to meet up with the crew. I worked at Windells with Moss and Danny but haven’t seen them in over a year. I haven’t seen Danny since his TBI injury last winter so it was really good to hug him in person and hang out with Michelle and Danny who took care of him. The full film is coming out soon so they are working hard to finish it up but the teaser is here if you haven’t seen it.
It was a really good day with friends, glad to spend time on the slopes and hang out with the Shreddy crew. Now onto another day of riding Northstar before heading back to Mammoth.

January 11, 2012 at 9:44 pmAw I didn’t know you knew Moss! He was the first person I met at Windells- driving us from the airport to camp. We’ve been trying to get together since he moved to Tahoe but it just hasn’t happened. :/
