When you work for a ski resort, you get used to working holidays and never enjoying the day off. This year, I was expecting to spend Thanksgiving with family so I asked for the time off but I ended up staying in Mammoth instead for my days off. I wasn’t sure about riding on Thanksgiving since it’d be busier but my friend Dan convinced me to hit up the mountain with him in the morning.
Thanksgiving marked the start of the busyness on the mountain for snowboarding. But even though there were more people, lines weren’t too bad. We ended up sticking to Forest Trail and Main Park laps so we could kind of escape the busy runs.
The best part about a 22′ pipe, is the fact that less people ride pipe and feel comfortable going through it so we pretty much had it to ourselves every lap through. Here’s a video of Dan’s pipe run.
