Time flies when you are having fun! That’s certainly the case considering this winter will be my 18th season snowboarding (crazy huh!). Each year I try to progress my snowboarding, share the journey and have fun doing it. This year I’m looking forward to another winter in California, riding new mountains and progress my own skills so I keep improving.

Days on snow:
I’ve been continuing to hit my goal of 100 days each year. Last year I ended with 127 days on snow and was really happy with the amount. I’ll continue to try to hit 100 days and looking forward to the season finally starting.
Heath:
My foot is still recovering from a bruised heel but I’ve started back at the gym to get ready for this winter. My knees feel in great shape and it was really fun committing to jumping last season. Just hoping for another healthy year, staying outdoors as much as possible and making sure my season is long.
Tricks:
Last season I got back into jumping and went from small to medium jumps comfortably and playing with grabs. I had a lot of fun on the AcroBags and not being scared of air so hoping to continue that through this season. For rails, I felt more comfortable on boxes but I really didn’t continue the progression that I learned at Windells. So definitely wanting to step it up this year.
Overall Riding:
Definitely my goal is to have fun on the slopes, ride with rad people and just enjoy it. I had such a great time last season when I went up to Tahoe and rode with my family so hoping to continue to spend more time with them. I’d also like to ride some harder terrain, get into the backcountry more often with a splitboard and explore the terrain around Mammoth.
Travel:
Last winter I stayed put and didn’t travel around as much. It was a good break but also just a break. This winter I’ll continue to ride my home mountains: Mammoth and June but also explore the So-Cal mountains, Tahoe mountains and some other awesome places. I’m already planning a trip back to Colorado for the SIA Tradeshow and will be sticking around to ride my favorite mountains there and if time allows maybe a trip to Jackson Hole. I’ll definitely make the Holy Oly contest at Snoqualmie in Washington in the spring. Also looking into taking a week in the spring and wondering if I could pull off one of the three options: Tailgate Alaska, Whistler for Telus or Baldface for Frequency Week. Excited for this winter!
Blog:
Now that I’ve been doing Shayboarder for four years, it’s pretty easy to keep up the good work. I’ll continue to try and review snowboard gear, post up riding reports, offer up original stories and interview new people.
I will be making a return to SIA in Colorado in January 2012 to attend the tradeshow, check out the latest gear and test out the gear at the on-snow. I’ll be staying longer than usual so I can spend time with friends, snowboard at my favorite resorts and just have a good time.
For this season I’ll continue to keep the Friday giveaways plus tons of other giveaways in store! And as always will be updating my social media throughout the season. Looking forward to this season and continuing my riding!
What are your own personal goals for this winter for snowboarding, traveling?

October 26, 2011 at 2:24 pmI wanna hit the park this year! I’ve never tried to use any snow features or jibs out of embarrassment, I guess. But I found out that Bear Mtn has a cool skill builder park, with small boxes etc to learn on. Yay! It’ll def help put aside my (silly) fears.

October 27, 2011 at 5:50 pmFor me, it is all about the powder and exploration of Kicking Horse area in Golden, Canada. Also backcountry, and more pow bowls. I bought two new pow boards for this season, so I hope I put them to a good use.
