It’s no surprise that I love snowboard gear but what I really love is outerwear. Luckily each year I get to try out more and more brands of outerwear, the first of which is 686 which I’ll be wearing this season. This rider driven outerwear brand mixes it up with technical collections that range from the fun and quirky to collaborations to downright simple designs built for riders. I caught onto 686 years ago and all it took was one jacket that lasted to know I found a brand I liked.
This year was tough when it came to selecting what I’d like from 686. I liked a lot of pieces so it was difficult figuring out which one to finally select. Eventually I went with two jackets (one crazy, one solid) and bright pants. One of the jackets is the softshell which I fell in love with last season in the Kr3W jacket, I liked that it suited the mountain without being overly warm for me.

You might have noticed I prefer men’s outerwear and as a curvy girl I like having the baggier/longer look to my gear than feeling uncomfortable on the slopes by fitting into something smaller. It’s just harder to find outerwear meant for curvy women so I keep sticking to men’s outerwear.
Stoked to be rocking 686 again this season and thanks to Kristin at 686 for hooking it up! Stay tuned for a couple more geared up for the season posts that will show off other brands I get to try out this winter.
What are you rocking for outerwear this season?

November 11, 2010 at 7:09 amI’ve only had one prob off 686. The velcrow part that is hard ruinined my jackets shoulder. Like the material of the jacket just couldnt handle the prolonged rubbing of that hard plastic.
I was pretty bumbed

November 11, 2010 at 12:08 pmI love 686 as well! The best part is the free gloves that come in the pockets and the little mirrors on the wrist! They are all very cool features. We have some awesome 686 stuff, more of the simple designs built for riders like you said. Check it out @ http://www.winterwomen.com/brands/686.cfm

November 13, 2010 at 11:46 pmi like to wear outerwear only when theres powder, that way the same pants and jacket can last a few seasons. if outerwear was really expensive what kind of techniques owuld you use to stay warm and dry.
