Earlier this week I watched as friends from Tahoe came down to enjoy the recent snowfall with a jib sesh and came back totally stoked on the snow. I didn’t make it out with them but realized today I should head to the snow before it melts. You can call today Shay’s-unsuccessful-jib-sesh.
I put out some calls but in the end, it was myself with my dog to check it out and make an afternoon of it. During our morning hike we saw a corrogated tube right next to the snow which I thought would be a great way to start the jib sesh by setting it up and having a go at it.
I ended up eating shit every single time I hit it…definitely the best falls to start off the season. I should have known to just find a log that would be easier to ride off of and not have to ollie onto…but I figured I’d try. It hurt but I had fun doing it. The good news was no one was around to watch and I did not take video of it, haha!

During the setup, Capita swam in the ice cold water. She’s a snowdog that loves the water just as much even when it’s freezing.

Geared up (unfortunately this pic didn’t come out in the light) with my backpack, shovel, boots and snowboard. It was fun to walk by all the hikers on my way to the snow

In some ways it was successful since I finally hit the snow and tried my hand on something that absolutely scares me (riding little snow on rocks…I’m no Nick Visconti here). I was able to get some gear shots to end the day with. I’m gonna go back to icing my shin right now.

I’m hoping to scratch up my rock board good before the month is out! *crosses fingers*
