Earlier this week I hit the road for a location that I had only heard about but never been to; the new location would soon be Mammoth Lakes, California. It was about to become my home, my new residence and where I will spend my upcoming winters & summers. Once again my truck was packed up, my dog totally confused and myself contemplating my life on the drive to CA.
I had recently done an interview with burritosandsnow about moving and committing to living in resort towns. I had done my first move in 2006 to Steamboat Springs, CO which I wrote about my experience in that interview. During the drive to Mammoth, I thought about how different this move was going to be; I was moving to a place I had never visited but had heard great things about, I was moving alone with my dog and I was moving to a place where I knew few people which means a fresh start to basically everything. The unknown is always scary but I’m excited for my job here and the ability to start fresh. Upon arriving in Mammoth Lakes, I soon found out that it exceeds it’s reputation.

You know how great a resort town is if you visit in the off-season and totally fall in love with it. Despite there no being snow on the mountains you can still enjoy the scenery and the town for itself. I found that upon arriving in Mammoth that it just keeps getting better and better every time I drive around. From the dog park at horseshoe lake where my dog can enjoy the water and play with other dogs, to the quiet town that is part of this major ski resort. So far I’m stoked to be here!
Soon I’ll get to start work at Mammoth Mountain which I’m really excited for, it’s exciting to move to another resort town and get to learn all about this mountain.

I’m hoping to get internet set up at my new place this week so be patient with the blog since I’m updating from coffee shops which means limited internet time to reply to emails/comments/questions/planning anything. But hopefully soon I’ll be more adjusted.

I have two kids, Jarrett who is 5, whom you can see in the links on my twitter page. And a 2 year old daughter named…Shay! So you can see why I was drawn to your page.
Best wishes, stay safe, and hope to hear from you soon.

September 29, 2010 at 9:01 amCongrats! Mammoth is an awesome place that we ride there 2 weekends a month. So other friends hardly see us during the winter. But I’ll be working there as well in October. I’ll be looking at a couple places to move into this weekend. If you want to rent out that extra room, let me know.
