What could a snowboarder do with 50,000? Well two snowboarders from the east coast are trying to win a grant for $50,000 in order to buy 3 buses, convert them to bio diesel and use them to run city kids to local mountains like Hunter, Mountain Creek and Big Boulder…but they need your vote to get in the top 10!
Here’s an overview of their plan with the Grease bus:
“Grease Bus NYC wants to provide the hundreds of thousands of snowboarders and skiers in the NYC area with a cheaper, more earth-friendly way to get to our local mountains. Currently, all thats available is a few bus trips on large charter buses. These buses are terrible on gas, pollute an obscene amount, and cost arounf $75 for a one day trip! We aim to buy 3 diesel buses to convert to 100% grease power…with the fuel provided for free from many local restaurants. These buses do not put out any harmful emissions, and by using 100% FREE fuel we can charge just $20 round trip to many local mountains!! We want to provide service to Hunter Mountain and Windham in the Catskill mountains of upstate New York, Big Boulder Park, Camelback, and other mountains of the Pocono region in Pennsylvania, and Mountain Creek in New Jersey.
By charging just $20 round trip, the thousands of inner city youth that cannot afford to go to ski/snowboard can now go on day trips with their friends for cheap!!”
