It’s hard to believe that on June 17th there would be fresh snow at Timberline in Oregon but today there was 8-10 inches of fresh snow for the first day on snow day at session 2 of Windells Camp.
I headed up to the mountain bright and early to check out the new snow we received and there was plenty in the parking lot to remind us that winter hasn’t left Oregon yet. The snow was heavy northwest new snow but definitely helps for the summer shredding. The clouds remained over the mountain but we had some lucky moments when the blue skies would come back out again.

I spent the morning with the skiers tagging along with Josh Bishop’s group where I found Camper of the Day Andrew straight out of Denver Colorado. Since Palmer lift was running we weren’t at the Windells Camp but sessioning the public park and I stayed on the jump line to catch the skiers getting their legs under them for the morning.

For the afternoon I ended up using my instructors skills to coach a beginner snowboarder and get her on her toeside turns which ended up being a lot of work in the heavier snow but we made it through the afternoon.
After being on-snow for the day I headed back to camp to partake in the fun on-campus activities before dinner, lots of knockout basketball and chilling around campus.

Tonight was the Salomonder Bot skateboard race so plenty of kids were in the new skatepark to partake in the racing. It was fun to watch from the side as the kids rallied through the course.

Later on Ride Snowboards did their sponsor night contest with a water balloon toss and egg contest which was hilarious to watch a line up of kids trying to last the longest.

Tomorrow is another day on snow and stoked for another day at Windells Camp…funnest place on earth all summer!

June 18, 2010 at 7:35 amFes, there is a public park open to anyone at Timberline but Windells has it’s own private park. Today the upper mountain was closed so we didn’t ride our main private park like Alex said.
