Steamboat 3/25/10

I’ve lived in Steamboat for almost four years now and experienced quite a variety of snow years, from the record year of 07-08 where I lost track of the best powder days because there were so many to this year where we are 100 inches below average with very few powder days to count.  For me the end result has been it’s been a great year for park and during midweek days I just lap park on my ride break.

Today was another of those days, lapped park, ran into acquaintances and enjoyed the slushy warm day outside.  It was the first time this season I left the jacket inside and layered up with long sleeves.

The mountain is really feeling the effects of the sunshine and while I love it, definitely some brown to the mountain that’s coming out.  Looks like mud season will arrive early this year as the snow melts quicker in town and especially on the mountain.

So yesterday I took out the new Arbor Cadence for the first day and I noticed something was off, like definitely off while riding.  I couldn’t pinpoint it, I talked with Arbor and it didn’t seem to be the board but something was off so I blamed my riding (one of those shitty days).  Well today the mystery was solved when Lee who is the C3 guru chatted me to tell me that he was pretty sure my asym highbacks were wrong.  Before riding, I had pieced together my highbacks but put them on wrong so I was riding off yesterday because of that…rocking the asym’s the wrong way.  I felt like a total idiot but glad that someone noticed and let me know cause I wouldn’t have looked for a while.  So this one goes out to Lee, huge thanks!

Tomorrow’s a busy day at work but hopefully should be able to enjoy my ride break and finally it’s the weekend soon which means all day of lapping park and possibly going to Breckenridge to try some new features with friends.
