10 years ago, Capita Snowboards began their journey and as I’ve watched them grow in those 10 years they’ve never lost who they are. Their symbolism, their passion and their appreciation of customers is what drives the company into creating boards that people come back for. They’ve endured rough years, great years, award winning years and they continue to understand what makes their boards popular to the rider. Their team truly represents the company to the core, rides the gear and make it better. Congrats for 10 years!
Two years ago they introduced Flat Kick Technology, expanding it through the line last year and last year added powder FK to the mix. This year they add in Freeride FK to their 10 year anniversary Black Snowboard of Death (yes the skull is back!). In addition to their Flat Kick, they continue with the traditional camber in the boards meant to have camber on the mountain. Lastly they have added the micro-scope, a kids reverse camber board with a convex shape.

February 19, 2010 at 10:59 amHey Shay! Any talk of another Sierra exclusive board for next year?
Pam
February 19, 2010 at 11:00 amI love Capita’s graphics. It’s awesome that you have the photo gallery implemented so that you can view images larger and see the detail. I def would like to try the SPF FK.
Hanh
February 19, 2010 at 6:57 pmshay good looking out! i have been trying to scoop up all the old capitas, found a totally awesome but no cash. CAPiTA for LIFE!
Andrew
February 20, 2010 at 8:18 amI might have to replace my 1st year Horrorscope for one of next years. Any changes to next years model?
lee
February 20, 2010 at 9:34 amAndrew. Horrorscope for next year has a different configuration of fk then what you have. Instead of being flat from the outside of the inserts it runs it on the inside of them. So the flat is smaller with more kick on the board. I think its called park fk. Also has a different core makeup.pretty similar to last years if not the same. Does that help at all?
Andrew
February 21, 2010 at 6:41 amYeah that definitely helps a lot, thanks. With the new rocker is it going to be less stable?
lee
February 21, 2010 at 9:20 amI havnt ridden it yet but it sure sounds like its set up to be more manuverable and even less catchy. You might loose a little stability that you are used to but if you want the regular fk they are still offering it on other models. What kind of riding do you do? Where do you live?
Andrew
February 21, 2010 at 2:56 pmI like to ride pretty much anything that I can. East coast, small hill but I do go to bigger places around the northeast. I was at Mountain Creek down in NJ for 2 days and my Horrorscope handled everything fine, only a little bit of chatter but that’s when I was straight lining it down a pretty steep hill to get across a flat spot. I would try out the Indoor but the smallest it comes in is a 152 and the biggest I would want to ride is probably a 150 since I’m on the 148 Horrorscope right now.
Shay
February 21, 2010 at 5:53 pmKeo, I have heard there is talk but I think it’s too early on what exactly.
Pam, good to hear the images work for you! I have tried to make the gallery work better for these images where people want to see more.
Hanh, awesome on scooping them up! I was bummed I sold my shapeshifter years ago but it helped pay my way to CO but now I wish I had it just for the collection.
Thanks Lee for helping Andrew!
Andrew, you could see about the ultrafear FK as a replacement. Comes in closer sizes than the indoor.
Andrew
February 21, 2010 at 7:03 pmHorrorscope is less expensive and almost exactly the same as the Ultrafear so I’ll probably go with my good friend the Horrorscope.
Shay
February 21, 2010 at 7:06 pmUltrafear isn’t as soft as the horrorscope but yeah horrorscope is less expensive so good you’ve got it figured out.
lee
February 21, 2010 at 10:43 pmNo problem Shay, I could talk C3 all day. I’ve been told I’m a fan.
Andrew
February 22, 2010 at 3:19 amHave you ever worked at C3 before?
lee
February 22, 2010 at 7:34 amNope. Like I said ,just a fan. Hahahaha! I’ve rode Capita and Union since they’ve come out. Best stuff ever, period.
nams
February 22, 2010 at 12:08 pmNice, I’ve been looking for images of the upcoming line. The new Space Metal Fantasy looks swell.
Andrew
February 22, 2010 at 2:09 pmI’ll probably never buy anything but a Capita ever again. Maybe I’ll switch it up sometime but I’ll probably go right back to Capita

February 23, 2010 at 7:31 amThanks for the preview Shay, had to consult your post to decide what to demo this weekend =D.
Arron
February 25, 2010 at 4:17 pmthe horrorscope catches my eyes! do they have the edges similar to banana’s MTX?
lee
February 26, 2010 at 7:47 amNo the horrorscope doesn’t. The only one that has an extra contact point is the Black Snowboard of Death and that’s right in the middle of the sidecut.
E-rock
March 1, 2010 at 7:07 amDoes the new config of the Horrorscope FK lessen the pop?
lee
March 1, 2010 at 8:04 pmI wouldn’t think so. Like I said before I havnt been able to ride it yet. But I don’t think there are any drastic changes to it other than the new FK. I wouldn’t see that taking away from the pop too much.

March 1, 2010 at 9:37 pmWill there be another ultra fear? I have the horrorscope from this year and the top sheet just cracked and its covered by warrarnt so I get a new board for the 2011 season…except I’m wondering if I want the horrorscope again. I like how easy it is to press, but I don’t like going in the park and not being able to hit the jumps because the horrorscopes just to loosey goosey. I’m looking for a park board around 153 cm that’s 60% rails, 40% jumps…So maybe a flex of 4? Also, I have size 12 boots…and Im wondering if a 154 reg will give me enough toe/heel room
hoobastank hilliard
March 5, 2010 at 10:42 amhorrorscope all the way!!!
i cant belive its a 3 on a 1 to 10 flex.. holy crap

March 28, 2010 at 12:30 pmLookin forward to shred the bsod!!!!!!!!!!!!
lee
March 29, 2010 at 4:38 pmyes there will be another ultrafear. tj is riding it in his new realms video. same graphic idea too. so that might be the way to go for you.
as far as your boot size goes ,what size board are you riding now? size 12 are some big dogs!!
another one to consider is the green machine. its rated at a 5 but its a narrower board, not by much but still is.

looner80
May 10, 2010 at 5:28 pmhey l-money, you should check out the indoor survival, FK version, its perfect for jumps and you can still press the crap out of things
Phil
July 7, 2010 at 8:08 amI was wondering if anyone knew when capita was actually gonna release these models for purchase?
I got the privilege to ride the horrorscope and it was absolutly marvelous!. I was up at the local hill with my buddy and they showed up with ther 2011 series and let us demo them, I instantly fell in love with the horror, and my buddy just bought last years indoor survival just because he liked the graphic better 😛
i’m super stoked for the season! winter just can’t come back fast enough up here in canada 😛
Shay
July 8, 2010 at 5:16 amMatt,
I’ll try to get on the stairmaster extreme for you.
Phil, usually late summer/early fall is when the upcoming winter products are released. Awesome on loving the horrorscope at a demo!
Johan
July 8, 2010 at 8:53 am2010-11 CAPiTA will be in shops August 15th.
bailey
July 12, 2010 at 9:45 ami ride tree runs like 30%, rails like 40 %, and jumps like 30%. i usually ride boyne or boyne highlands but still alot of street and small michigan hills. i weigh 195 and am 6 foot
what are your guys’s thoughts on hopping on a 151 mid life? the graphics are dope and it seems like a all mountain freestyle killer, where i can just shred anything and everything all over, which is what i do.
lee
July 12, 2010 at 6:30 pmBailey! I’m from Michigan and boyne used to ne my home mountain. What’s your boot size? Tell me that and ill give you an idea on what board. My personal fave would be an extreme. that thing will kill anything that Michigan can throw at it. so hurry up and let’s hear your boot size. if you got big dogs Tj may be the way to go since it has a wider waist width.
Phil
July 16, 2010 at 7:52 pmthanks alot for the info! i’ve already decided what i was gonna put on my horrorscope
bindings : http://www.unionbindingcompany.com/product/snowboard-bindings/danny-kass
and i need new goggles since i totally busted mine last year off the big air trying a new trick 😛
goggles : http://www.electricvisual.com/products/snow-goggles/2010-2011/spherical/eg1s/neff/
i’m super stoked to get everything and for the snow to arrive!!! i’m a winter child and i’m melting in this summer heat outside all day working.

July 22, 2010 at 8:08 pmhey all my shay boarders out there im trying to decide between the horrorscope fk and the indoor survival fk. if i like to do midsize jumps but still LOVE to jib, which should i get? basically what im asking is, does the indoor still have a pretty good flex? i have a 2009 WWW (non rocker) thanks
lee
July 24, 2010 at 11:53 pmDillon- indoor equals fun outdoors. awesome board should be a good choice. you won’t be disappointed. get one and get Stoked!
mitch
August 21, 2010 at 10:37 amHey Im looking at the ultrafear and the horrorscope for next season and im wondering if the horrorscope is too soft to take off jumps. I mostly ride at a pretty small mountain so the biggest jump i would be hitting would be like 35 or 40 feet. Also im 5′ 8″ 130 pounds and will a 151 be too big for me?
Shay
August 21, 2010 at 6:44 pmMitch, horrorscope is softer than the ultrafear, I think you’d be better off with the ultrafear since you are taking it on jumps. 151 for your weight is fine.
COlt
August 22, 2010 at 10:25 pmDoes Scott Stevens ride the ultrafear or the horrorscope? Ive seen him on both in different seasons. he just presses those things like crazy. im 5’10” 180lbs. size 11. ultrafear???
mitch
August 23, 2010 at 7:56 amok thanks
lee
August 23, 2010 at 12:14 pmI think he rides both. Pretty sure he is on an ultra right now. I think john had that on his blog. Just took a new production one down to him.
nick
August 23, 2010 at 1:30 pmI need help picking a size for the ultrafear…
i’m 5’8 180 pounds. ride mostly icy conditions at mountain creek, nj
60% jumps 40% rails. do you guys think ultrafear 151 is too small?
Shay
August 23, 2010 at 4:04 pmColt, he rides both. You can see his riding this summer at HCSC on this video, well worth checking out
http://www.snowboardtv.snowstoked.com/scott-stevens-at-high-cascade-snowboard-camp-2010/
Lee is right, Johan came down this summer to give Scott an ultrafear.
Nick, I’d go for the 155 since you are hitting jumps more often and need some more stability. If you just rode jibs, go smaller with the 151.
COlt
August 23, 2010 at 5:40 pmhey thanks for the vid. stevens rips and looks like hes having a blast. i think im gonna try and get my hands on one of those ultrafears.
Shay
August 23, 2010 at 6:03 pmColt, no problem and he definitely rips and has a blast on the mountain. Ultrafear is a solid board.
nick
August 25, 2010 at 2:44 pmthat sucks! i should have asked you first. I already pre ordered the 151 ultrafear, might be kinda sketchy hitting jumps. I ride a 152 now and it seems fine but maybe that extra 1cm really makes a difference. thanks anyway
Shay
August 25, 2010 at 2:47 pmNick, the size suits the riding conditions you’ll be in and you’ll just have to adjust to the smaller size on jumps. I wouldn’t worry too much about it since you are already riding a smaller size board anyway, won’t be too much of an adjustment.
lee
August 27, 2010 at 7:28 amShay’s got it right Nick.
chris
August 28, 2010 at 6:44 amI ride basically rails and street but never really do tables. I have a burton 7 but it got warped after only 2 years. I hate how cheap burtons are. But thats the only board local here. So i wanna order a capita but idk which one? I was thinking stairmaster or stairmaster extreme but everyone on here is talking about how great the horror scope is. Which should i get?
Shay
August 28, 2010 at 12:53 pmChris, sweet on trying out a capita as your next board. The Stairmaster/extreme is a popular board for a reason and definitely a good choice for rails/street riding. Horrorscope is popular as well but a very soft flat kick board so depends if you want to stick with camber or flat kick. Really depends on what you are more comfortable with.
fuckiforgotmypass
September 30, 2010 at 7:43 amim planning on getting the new indoor survival 58 but I’m stuck choosing between FK and reg camber. Hows the pop on the FK? Hows the butterability on the reg camber? i need jump and ollie power
