This season I’ll be able to ride Tuesday mornings which can mean getting the first powder turns or carving up the corduroy, today was the latter with bluebird skies and groomed runs on the mountain.
I made the switch to wearing a helmet, trying out the Sandbox Classic low profile. Many of the comments mentioned how helmets keep your head warm and I definitely noticed that right off the bat, wears and head were warm when riding but not too warm.

I met up with Amy to get our early morning turns in, it’s picking up in town and a bit busier with college week in town. Luckily they drink and wake up later when it’s not a powder day.
I’ve made my transition to my stiffer snowboard boots, Vans Omni’s and the first turn of today I felt the response right away…of course that resulted in a nose dive to the snow. We knuckled up and hit the snow to enjoy more open terrain on the mountain. The new snow we got yesterday helped out ALOT and I had less rock gashes than last week but we definitely need more snowfall soon.

The groomers were fun, great for charging and we kept to runs that were less busy. It’s a good way to start the day when you can go fast and cruise, before going into work…definitely beats a cup of coffee.

On our last run down the mountain, we could see the Bashor area which is blowing snow to get the halfpipe and terrain park open. Supposedly by the holidays but we’ll see. Wev’e got our medium park open and I plan to ride there on the next ride break.
