It’s been a couple weeks since I’ve been snowboarding and the leftover snow in Colorado was calling my name today. I left Steamboat and headed south to Breckenridge where 4th of July Bowl has leftover snow and rails set up. Today marked an important day, I have ridden 12 months straight every month and now ending my 08-09 in Colorado where I started it at day 106.
Today’s crew included K, Scott, Jackson and myself. We were joined by other riders and skiers partaking in the leftover snow. As you might expect, leftover snow in September that has lasted since winter is dirty, rocky and not really white but it’s still shreddable.

I haven’t been up to Breck since July 26th so the snow isn’t what it used to be but there are still features up there that are rideable.

We spent most of the afternoon snowboarding and hanging out up top, I was riding the corrugated tube again but this time working on 50/50 to boardslides and I tried my first tail tappies at the end, haha. My friends were throwing down so I took out the camera and got photos of them.

The sun came out but it was late afternoon when I got this shot of one of the other riders, Walter on the flat rail.

Earlier in the day the skiers set up a 3 kinked rail so K tried it at the end of the day.

Towards the end of the day the sun finally came out, K and myself got this photo just hanging out.

Overall a great day, glad to be back on snow and I felt a lot better on my rail riding than previously. Stoked for the winter season!

September 6, 2009 at 5:09 pmWe were just looking at that last patch of snow up on 4th of July Bowl as we passed through Breckenridge today. I had no idea there were rails up there. Loved reading about it; thanks mucho.

September 6, 2009 at 7:26 pmSteezy, stoked on it too…certainly wasn’t expecting it this year. The snow was barely there but still great to be on it. Almost winter!
Erica, awesome! I drove on I-70 today and always check out the snow patches on the peaks as well. No problem, definitely a good time!
