Update: Here are the write-ups from each day at SIA 2009.
It’s that time of year again, SIA (Snowsports Industries America) when the snowboarders and skiers leave the mountains to come to Vegas. Its when the next years gear is released, critiqued and checked out by those in the industry. Even in tough economic times, the snowboard industry is passionate and this carries the progression of our gear further without limitations.
This is my 4th SIA I’ll be attending and first time attending as press on behalf of this blog. Shayboarder.com has proved that a woman can write about snowboarding on experience, knowledge and covering both male/female sides of the sport.
I’ll be out in Vegas from Monday to Friday, meeting with companies as I represent this site and having some fun along the way. I enjoy SIA because it’s really the one time of year I get to see old friends, meet people I email back and forth with, and be surrounded by gear that makes me happy.
I’ll have access to reading emails all week since they go straight to my blackberry but replying might take longer unless it’s a SIA issue. So any advice/questions, please expect a couple days for me to return the email.
Here’s a list of companies I’ll be meeting with:
-C3 (Union, Coal, Defcon, Capita)
-Bluebird
-Sound/Technine/Nomis
-Monument
-Flow
-Atomic
-Quiksilver/Lib/GNU
-Nitro/l1/Raiden

I’ll be doing updates from the show with photos and video as well as twitter updates with some thoughts along the way.
If you have a specific company/product you want more info on, leave a comment here for me and I’ll work my best to check them out and get more info while I’m in Vegas.

January 26, 2009 at 12:10 pmgood god shay… that is an insane list. are you planning to spend any time doing what SIA is meant for? partying?
Shayboarder
January 26, 2009 at 12:13 pmI know! I’m just one person and I’m doing that all. Good thing I am the most organized person ever, have schedules for every hour of the tradeshow.
I’ll be attending the Riders Poll and probably the Perry Farrrel event but yeah I tend to not party as much as I probably should.

January 27, 2009 at 12:50 amAs many Lib pictures you can get would be great. Ever since your teaser on next years Lib boards, I have been itching to see what is on the horizon from the fellas at Mervin. I also heard they are coming out with a clothing line, so I would be interested to see how they design there clothing. Thanks Shay, you ROCK!!

If you’re able to, could you find out next years sizes of GNU’s Park Pickle and post it? That would be great. I know this years late release is in a 56 but if next years is offered in a 59 I’ll wait. Thanks in advance.

January 28, 2009 at 9:46 amHey shay never mind the GNU Park Pickle post. I just a peek at the catalogue and it does come in 59. There’s also a skate banana with the same side cut as the pickle. Very interested in the C2banana/camber Mervin is coming out with next year in the Billy Goat, Barret Christy, and Dark Series models. Any detailed info on that would be appreciated.
Thanks.

January 31, 2009 at 9:13 pmCraig. I met Pete at the show and he was great to talk to.
Hoon and Jonny. I ended up not having enough time for Rubber Duck with other commitments so missed out on them. I hope you guys aren’t too bummed or emo about it. Nope I did not kick Johan in the nuts, he was busier than a skate banana at demos so I felt he needed his nuts.
I checked out the BS Technology. Good god Omatic is hilarious, you’ll see more soon!
I took one photo of Yes. I didn’t have time to chat with them or really check them out unfortunately. I’m sure other sites had them covered since it is such a hot topic.
Didn’t get to see Bataleon or IS eyewear, sorry!
All the pictures I took at each company will be put up in posts by company soon. That includes Nitro, Lib, Burton and tons more!
I ate at the buffet but it was Bellagio buffet and they are damn good there.
