Loveland 11/1/08

I stayed true to my word last night that I wouldn’t choose drinking over riding.  Halloween was a fun time here in Steamboat Springs with friends but I made sure to get the cab ride home at midnight so today I’d spend it on the mountain instead of hungover and tired from partying.
Unfortunately I was the only one of my friends from Steamboat to follow that plan.  Luckily Jay was up for the day of shredding and made sure to bring up Lib/GNU boards to ride.
Loveland now has 2 chairlifts open, offering up 5 trails.   In the morning the clouds were out, bringing overcast and flat light conditions.  By late morning, the sun started to show through and then early afternoon, the clouds were back.
I expected the day after Halloween to not be busy, but there were people on the mountain and no lines all day.
With Jay there I was spending more time on 3 snowboards during the day, TRS, B-Pro and Lando.
Jay and myself on the chairlift.
I was rocking the Bula hat today and tried out the Giro goggles in the AM with the lens for the snow conditions.
It was some rough snow conditions until the snow softened up and before it hardened up again. The first runs on chair #6 had some bumpy, popcorn to ride over.  I am still taking it snow on my ankle, but started to do presses again.

The afternoon starts with us heading back up chair 6 where I take this photo as the clouds are coming in again.
We had just got on the chairlift and it stops..and while waiting we notice the arrival of the sled.  Then another sled.

A shot of me on the chairlift and how far we are from the bottom.

Just a couple feet off the ground as we sat around waiting.

The liftie gave us the go-ahead to just jump down and ride to the other chairlift. By the time we arrived back at the chair after a lap, it was up and running on auxiliary aka diesel.  I think this is the second time I’ve jumped from the chairlift and i’ve always been lucky to be on the lower chairlifts.

Ended the day of shredding and got a better idea of each board to finish up the reviews for them.

Can’t wait to read your review on Lando or TRS…

I just bought the Lando 160cm but didn’t have the chance to ride it yet around Montreal… But last year I did like a lot my TRS BTX 154cm…

Just put up the Lando review.

Francis…did you keep your TRS? I liked the lando but was a lot stiffer flex than the 154 phoenix I rode. More freeride, stable than freestyle fun.

TRS and B-pro reviews up this week and next week.
