Classic 80’s/90’s Snowboarding Shots!

I recently stumbled across some old resort brochures from the 1980’s and 1990’s for Steamboat, Copper and Winter Park. Obviously I’m stoked on what I found…because it included multiple one-pieces, neon and the occasional old school snowboarder.

In the evolution of the snowboarder…this is where we came from. These are the days of old snowboard brands that started it all, the days of one-pieces, bright neon and some wicked grabs still in use to this day.

BTW…this post is for Johan, He was shredding Steamboat at this time.

My favorite of the photos I found is in the Steamboat Brochure from 1991-1992, showing these snowboarders ripping up the powder on old Burtons and Sims snowboards.

A glimpse at past snowboard instructors, from the 1995-1996 season. According to the Steamboat brochure, Steamboat Snowboard School was #1 in 1994. Quite an achievement!
Here is a Copper Mountain Brochure featuring a snowboarder. This is a 1991-1992 season brochure.

I had to laugh when I first saw the slogan…”the coolest, the raddest” because nothing has changed, just how we phrase it.

This was in a Steamboat brochure from 1992-1993

Before Breckenridge was known for it’s amazing terrain parks…it was known for this.

Haha! I found a brochure like this for my home mountain (foothill) of Mont Cascades. If I can ever get it scanned, I’ll definitely share it. Neon is the raddest and the coolest.
