I love winter, of course I do since I snowboard and live in a mountain town. But it’s May and I woke up to this…3 inches of fresh snow.
I moved here so my season would last longer and it’s definitely lasting longer. Living in Colorado means typically starting the season in October and ending in June. One of the sayings of living in Steamboat, is you move here for the winters but the summers keep you here.
Lets just see if summer ever starts here in Steamboat Springs.

Mammoth is the closest thing we’ve got out here in cali, but mammoth is usually open till june and some times even july, however mammoth should be closed this up and coming weekend. and im sure there will be sad faces all around!

May 15, 2008 at 11:42 amNice yeah I’ve heard about Mammoth’s long seasons. Have yet to visit that mountain but eventually would be sweet. Bummer it is closing early. Yeah one of the big reasons I moved to CO from WA is that the seasons are long and if a season is bad in CO, there’s snowmaking to make up for it. In WA you rely completely on mother nature which is unpredictable.
