So SIA started yesterday, Tuesday January 29th but I didn’t make it into Vegas until late last night. Luckily for me the weather cleared up and guaranteed that I could make it to Denver.
Tom dropped me off at DIA just in time to catch a late flight to Vegas. It was a pretty tiring night so when I got to Vegas, checked into my hotel room and passed out before midnight.
This morning started with just checking out friends who work for different companies and checking out the different gear for 2008-2009.
Here are some Atomic pictures that I took while getting the scoop on the atomic gear coming out.
Mike works for Atomic…he rocks and definitely looks ready to attack in this photo.
This year I was stoked to see a couple companies that were attending SIA especially Spacecraft! Normally they just crash SIA stickering up love and joy throughout the tradeshow but this year it was just awesome to see them in a booth.
Another company is Bitchboards, a girls up and coming brand. Last year Alex the owner sent out a board for me to review and give feedback on to apply to this years boards. So it was great to see the new boards built by a new manufacturer.
One of the nicest features about SIA is hanging out in the Block’s Yard area. This year features shows by Fuel, ping pong, water dunking and the best hugest cushions to sit on.
Since I test ride for Never Summer Snowboards, hung out with the crew there talking boards and meeting a lot of the staff. I’ve been riding the NS Lotus for a week now and it’s definitely a board to look forward to for aggressive freeride women riders for 08-09. This time at SIA last year is when I met Tracey the owner of Never Summer and he recognized me from snowboard.com and asked me to test out their boards for them.
Some 2008-2009 Never Summer Snowboards
I headed out from SIA with enough time to drop off my backpack of catalogs and free stuff at my hotel room then took a taxi to the Palms Hotel. DC Snowboards was having a showing of their upcoming collection in the Hugh Hefner Suite as well as a meet the DC snowboard team. I am planning to write an article for Shred Betties on the event. As soon as it’s written up I’ll post a link to it from here.
I left the DC event to hit up dinner with the Never Summer crew which was great having drinks and a very yummy buffet dinner talking snowboards. My night ended around midnight when I finally made it back to my hotel room and crashed.
Day 2 of SIA…completed.
